Final Exam

1.     Before I started this class, I didn't know much at all about art criticism.  Before I started this class, I didn't develop that many opinions or critiques when looking at other's art. I did critique and make decisions about my own work, though. I knew that anything you create is art, even if it is not "high quality." You don't have to be talented to create a work of art. Throughout the class, I grew comfortable evaluating mine and other's work. I enjoy finding things I like in a piece.
My thinking when making and examining art wasn't as in depth as it is now. I now understand better that the thinking process to creating art is more detailed than I thought it was. Now, I know how to find things in a piece I like and things I might change. Over the course of this class, I learned you can critique art without being negative. I also learned that a lot of thinking goes into the decisions you make on your art work.

2.     Something important I learned in this class is the variety of material that can be used to create art, not just colored pencils or paint (for example, when I used wax and clay to make a key). I also learned many techniques to water color, such as wet to wet, salt, dry brush, and more. Another useful thing I learned from this class is that, like I said previously, anything you create is art. It doesn't have to be perfect. I used to think you had to be talented to be an artist, but now I believe any piece of art that was creating with thought and feeling is a masterpiece.

Something I would change is my work towards the beginning. I would put more thought into the work I made and not just throw something together without doing more research. I wouldn't change much at all outside myself, because I think it was already a great learning experience. I would also spend more time on "arting" rather than going on Twitter. Other than my own faults, I wouldn't change a thing, I thought this class was a great learning experience because it really teaches you to get creative with your work, since the subjects are broad.
